Official statement from the U.S. Military says that yesterday ( the 26th of March) two U.S. Air Force F-15s had to escort two Russian long-range bomb bearers out of an air exclusion zone off the coast of Alaska.
U.S. radar situated near the cost of Alaska first picked up the Russian turbo-propelled bombers Tupolev-95 at around 800 km off the shore of Alaska
Two U.S. jets from Elmendorf Air Force Base were dispatched to meet the bombers and escorted them out of the area without causing any trouble, the officials said.
The air exclusion of this zone is maintained by the United States , thus barring unknown aircraft or aircraft that do not report flights inside the area.
In February another Russian aircraft approached the U.S. coastline which speaks of active movement in the Russia’s NAVY forces.
Back then, four Bear bombers flew near the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, with one of them flying at about 700 m from the Nimitz’s deck.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said at the time there was no violation of flight regulations during the incident. A ministry official described the flights as standard operating procedure for air force training.
Finally the U.S. military officials said that the incidents should not be considered as tread. They say it’s the Russian military forces testing its ability and presence.
